This has been a regular dining spot every time we are in the Monterey Bay Area, which is typically once or twice a year. We started coming here after hearing about the restaurant on The Splendid Table radio show shortly after they opened. The food and the care which shows in the menu selections and wine list has always been a treat. The dedication to sustainable seafood always comes across. During Covid, we dined outside sometimes under heat lamps, but the food and staff care made the experience all worthwhile. A jewel. It is good to hear that the founders will stay involved with the new owners.

Nice casual spot if you're in town for a date night in Monterey visiting the Aquarium. The food was great, the ambiance was nice, and the regulars that sat next to us were super friendly. Our server, I forgot her name, had glasses, she ignored us the whole time and we had more help from a server from a different section and the runner helped us through the dishes. As for dishes, I tried the linguini w/ mussels, sea scallops w/ tomato truffle, fried California squid w/ herb salad, and for dessert, espresso mud pie and maple banana pudding.

An amazingly romantic place, great food and excellent service. I had the beet salad, along with their famous biscuit for starters. The salad and the baseball-sized biscuit were a meal in and of themselves. (Next time I'll skip the biscuit.). My entree was scallops, done to perfection with a delicious sauce. Dessert was vanilla ice cream with a passion fruit sauce that was rich and flavorful. If you're passionate (no pun intended) about food like me, this is the kind of meal where when you're finished you weep for it being done too soon. It should also be noted that Passionfish offers a wide variety of wines, deliberately priced with minimal markup to keep them affordable!
